After I took the communication survey, I was very doubtful that the results would be all that helpful. I just felt that it was too short and too general. Man, was I wrong. When my mentor led me through what the data meant, I had quite a few AHA moments. He helped me to see what drives me, what annoys me, and how to find useful outlets for my strengths and places to avoid for my weakness. Since then, my wife also took it and we were able to discover the triggers that cause conflict in our marriage. That understanding really helped with our conflict communication and resolution. I have also used the survey to help young men who are trying to choose colleges, and applied it to help parents understand their children. The survey and the help of a peer mentor, coupled with the visualization of the transition map is a great way to help ANYBODY who is currently in transition. My sincere hope is that this program expands and becomes an integral part of the military transition process.
